Capturing Those Memories

Daily family life can be so fleeting. This can be especially true when you are caught up in the midst of a fast-paced life. Before you know it, you turn around and your young children are approaching double digits. Then they are teenagers and life really gets interesting. One of the many things I appreciate about my husband is his faithful recording of our children over the years. We have countless memories recorded on tape that our children enjoy watching and we will treasure for years to come. I know digital camcorders are not cheap, but neither are these memories! They are priceless!

Steps to Better Health

Anyone struggling with making lifestyle changes to improve their health knows that this can be a . In the absence of success in this area, something like Colonix may help. Try reading some of the Colonix reviews on this website to see whether you think this product might be something that would help you rid your body of toxins and take some steps toward better health.

Computer Memory

My husband dabbles in computers, among other things. The other day he decided that it was time to take inventory of his stock of computer accessories and parts. I somehow got trapped into helping him! AHHHHHHH…you know, sometimes being the organizational queen comes back to bite! We were up to our armpits in such things as ddr3 memory for a good few hours…but in the end we got a good handle on what he has on hand and we have restored order in his office. As distasteful as reorganizing can be, it sure feels good when it’s done!

Mortgage Protection

In this economy, something that homeowners may want to consider seriously is some kind of mortgage protection to protect their mortgage and thereby protect their family in times of financial crisis.

Think about it…how long could you continue to pay your mortgage in the event of a disability or a job loss? Finding quality mortgage life insurance may mean the difference between keeping or losing your home if something unforeseen should happen.

If you can afford it, this might be something to seriously consider to protect your family from devastating loss.

Stopping to Smell the Neighbors’ Cool Stuff

I took my three year old for a walk yesterday around our neighborhood. We live in an older area…the houses are all about 100 years old and there are no to speak of. This means that every home is full of character…and this includes the outdoor decor as well. Have you been for a walk with a three year old lately? These walks are definitely “stop and smell the roses” types of walks.

We had to stop at almost every house…and this gave me plenty of time to notice some things that I might not normally notice. Things like…bird baths and garden accents and outdoor entertaining collections. I have discovered that my neighbors have great taste! The outdoor decor that I saw made me want to go shopping! There are some really attractive items available out there now to decorate the outdoor areas of a home.

If you are needing up update some items around your home, ShopWiki is a great way to find what you are looking for on the internet. It works much the same way Google works…by crawling the web.

Simply Homemade Butter

homemade_butterHave you ever made accidentally? You know…you’re making whipped for a delightful dessert and you get distracted…and before you know it you’ve got chunks of floating around in buttermilk? Well…if this happened I certainly hope you threw in a little salt and tasted it because it would have been amazing! If you’ve never tasted you really haven’t lived.

I make my own several times a week from our raw milk. I have an old electric churn that sits on my counter collecting as we skim it off the milk gallons. As soon as it becomes about 2/3 full, I plug in the churn and several minutes later we have .

You don’t need a churn to make . I made with a Kitchenaid before buying my churn off of Ebay. can be made in a blender, with a handheld mixer, or even in a mason jar! Here’s how!

1. Bring your to approximately 65 degrees.
2. Pour the into a churn, a bowl for mixing, a blender, or a mason jar.
3. Start shaking, mixing, blending…
4. When you see the separate into chunks and buttermilk, you’re done!
5. Pour off the buttermilk and save it for baking.
6. Place the into a colander in the sink and rinse it well with cold water. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear.
7. Salt the to taste.
8. Plop the into a plastic container. It will keep for a week on the counter, several weeks in the fridge, and indefinitely in the freezer.

Enjoy!

Eating Seasonally

The of the seasons is a simple and logical way of eating. We, as a culture, have gotten so far away from this. What could be better than a deep scarlet tomato eaten at the height of summer? A juicy crisp apple eaten as the days turn crisp in September? Early green lettuces as the days start to lengthen? Eating local, seasonal produce not only tastes better and is better for us, it is also a better choice both environmentally and economically.

I am focusing on learning to be a better by serving my family food that is seasonal and local. I have a feeling that if more people tried this, there might be little need for a nuphedra review, but maybe I’m wrong. Instead perhaps people would be strong and healthy…full of and the needed to live active, productive lifestyles.

Care to join my family and I in our goal to ?

Bored? Why…How?

I honestly cannot remember the last time I was bored. I’m sure it was over 21 years ago before I had any children. If that truly was the last time I was bored (and I think it was)…I remember why I was bored. I was young and I was not challenging myself sufficiently. I believe that is the crux of boredom. People get bored when they are not challenged enough…when they do not themselves. doesn’t have to be unpleasant… can even be ! Keep your mind busy and you will never be bored.

  1. Set a new goal for yourself.
  2. Tackle some .
  3. Get busy on a or learn a new one.
  4. Learn something new.
  5. Get some exercise.
  6. Read a book.
  7. Call a friend.
  8. Write a letter.
  9. Window shop online (LCD mount anyone?)
  10. Run an errand.
  11. Listen to music.
  12. Organize something.

Make Your Own Finger Paint

OK…yes, this can be messy. But sometimes you just have to give in to the mess and let them have a little bit of fun. And kids absolutely LOVE this finger paint! In fact, they love it about as much as I love the best wrinkle cream…and that’s a whole lot!

Recipe:

3 Tablespoons Sugar
1/2 Cup Cornstarch
2 Cups Water
1/4 Cup Dish Washing Soap
2 drops Vanilla
Paper Cups
Food Coloring

Combine the sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Add the water slowly and stir constantly. Cook over medium heat for five minutes until it turns clear and thick. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Add the dish washing soap and stir well. Add the vanilla. Divide the goo into the paper cups and add the food coloring.

Let them at it! I promise it’s worth the mess.

Keepin’ the Kids Busy

School’s out here…how about where you are? In fact, this is the first official day of summer vacation at my house and so far so good. We quite a few things coming up that should keep everyone sufficiently busy and quell the sighs of boredom. Even so…it seems like after a few weeks things can slow down a little and we do have days that can stretch a little long.

It’s good to keep a few tricks up your sleeve for these days…so I’m going to try to share a tip or two to help spice up the down-times of summer.

Number one…might even be good for anyone with a public speaking fear…who knows?

Eak-spay Ig-pay Atin-lay! (Speak Pig Latin)

Baffle your kids by talking to them in Pig Latin. All you do is take the first sound of a word and add an “ay” to the end of the word.

Cat becomes At-cay

Dog becomes Og-day

Boy becomes Oy-bay

Get it? It’s fun!
