I’m not the only one wondering. The birds outside seem to be bulking up for something…I can’t keep the feeder full! Abby is our little birder and she would dearly love a pair of barska binoculars to watch our feathered friends. She would sit at the window and watch for hours. As for me…I keep busy trying to outsmart those nasty squirrels that seem to prefer my birdseed to their own nuts that they so busily gathered hid all summer and fall. Maybe they hid them too well and can’t find them now?
It’s the new year, so I find myself tossing around the idea of getting serious about losing this baby weight. Baby is now 6 months old…so you might imagine how sick and tired I am of being pudgy…I’d love to get back to my former svelt shape again.
Now…how to do it…that is the question. I guess I need to start looking around at sites like www.toprateddietpills.com to see what is out there. Of course, I am breastfeeding…so many of these options are not options for me.
I usually just go the old fashioned route of exercise and portion control.
Ever wonder how difficult it is to maintain a vacant home? My neighborhood has a fair amount of vacant or rental homes…people are trying to sell in increasing numbers everywhere, it seems. I guess there is a special kind of home insurance you can get called vacant home insurance that will protect you and your vacant home against loss…I hope to never be in that situation, however. Maintaining and owning a vacant home I’m not living in…sounds stressful.
Of course, if the home is vacant because I’m somewhere warm…now that is a different story…
Do your kids get bored? I know…we adults usually tend toward the other extreme with a lack of time in each day to accomplish everything that needs to be done. You won’t read a lot about using time wisely on this site…but I digress…Kids, on the other hand, may struggle with filling unstructured time.
A current parenting trend is to fill every waking moment of a child’s life with structured activities. Music lessons, sports, school, extra-curricular groups and activities, crafting classes, homework, home chores…the list goes on.
What happens if the mad schedule slacks a little and your kids find some extra time to…just…do…nothing. What might they pick to entertain themselves? Computers? Video games? Some other electronic toy? Reading a book?
Do your kids ever have a chance to figure out what to do with unstructured time? It’s a skill, you know…using unstructured time wisely and creatively.
Do your kids a favor and help them learn how to fill it.
It seems like family commitments and day to day life will never let me realize the goals I had…oh…about 20 years ago. Once upon a time…when I met my husband-to-be…I was ready to start nursing school and I had a whole life plan in the works. Then…well…one thing led to another and I never did start school. Fast forward…or maybe SLOW forward to now and I would still like to do SOMEthing…get a degree in SOMEthing.
Now, thanks to the many different Internet opportunities, you can attend an online university and actually get a degree. Realistically, an online university is probably the only way I will ever get back to school.
It’s a little late, but how was your Black Friday? I am totally not into Black Friday. I don’t enjoy crowds and I don’t like having to fight with people over shopping or goods. I am much more of a “Cyber Monday” kind of girl. Shopping in my jammies in the cozy warmth of my living room works for me.
So…did you get any deals that would bring even ME out on Black Friday? Do tell…maybe I will have to brave the stores next year…
Thinking about getting away? Every year I think about Branson. They have some really beautiful hotels and conference centers down there — not even that far away from where we live in southern Wisconsin. When I see the pictures advertising Branson vacations I could totally see hubby and I taking off and spending a long weekend kicking back there. Some year — it obviously won’t be this year…or probably next year…but some year soon.
I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. I would like to pull out the tub surround that’s in there, add a larger tub with whirlpool jets, some built-in storage, a double vanity…sound nice? I’d love some beautiful glass tile in there around the fixtures also to lighten the room and make it look pristinely white and clean. A pretty tile floor would finish the effect I’m going for. Every winter hubby talks about this…one winter we’re actually going to do it!
I work at home as a freelance writer. Since the birth of a baby last July, I’ve been forced to cut back work time as I juggle new baby responsibilities. Now that she is almost six months old, I am trying to ease back into writing more, but it is not going so well. Some days, I’m sorely tempted to check out the retail jobs in the paper and see about working outside the home instead. I know…that wouldn’t be any easier — in fact, it would be harder. The baby is fussy, though, and she loves her mama. Makes it hard to write a coherent sentence…
Welcome 2012! Wow…twelve years since y2k! Wasn’t that a scary ride coming up on the new millennium! I remember how we weren’t sure if anything electrical would work…even something as simple as adjustable beds had a possibility of not working once the calender turned over. I rang in the new millennium with a sick child and everything overnight continued to work, much to my relief.
May the new year be filled with comfort and joy for you and yours!
