Beautiful Sustainable Benches

I love it when sustainability looks awesome and amazing! What better incentive to lessen your impact and make a difference than to have the option of choosing beautiful accessories that are a responsible choice. How about these picnic tables? They are attractive and virtually maintenance free! Who could argue with that? Also, touted as only having Marine-Grade stainless steel hardware metal on the units.

Or…how about one of these commercial park benches ? I love this look…even in the backyard it would look great. I could totally see it at a park, beach, poolside or garden, too.

These items are perfect for furnishing any outdoor space with high quality seating and tables that will stay beautiful for years. Find solutions to all your recycling and sustainable needs here.

Staying in Touch

How do you keep in touch with friends and family? In this age of instant communication and constant access to everyone, it’s gotten easier and easier to stay connected with people who live far away. Gone are the days of expensive and complicated conference call equipment…now we just pick up our cellphones or start IMing and internet chatting. How about Facebook? What on earth did we do before Facebook? Do you use these methods of staying connected or do you avoid them?

Revuvenating in a Spa

I’m down to the final countdown to school — five days out. We are set to start next Monday. Yeah…I know it’s Labor Day…but we’re starting on a Monday to keep the week neat and tidy.

Anyway, I don’t have a spa…but I sure could use one. I’d be so careful to keep the water clean and maintained. This silk balance looks like they have taken all of the hassle and trouble out of maintaining a spa.

If a spa needs maintenance of new parts, hot spring spa parts will take care of practically anything it might need.

It would be so worth it to enjoy the relaxation and rejuvenation of a hot and bubbly spa at the end of a tough day.

Drifting to the End of August

girl_licking_ice_cream_cone_cmn50001Yep – last weekend of August is upon us. Feeling bereft? Me too…

Kids start back to school next week and I don’t know about you, but this summer went fast. By the time August was here the momentum was moving so swiftly that there was no stopping the month from skidding right along.

Anyway…I thought I’d compile a quick memo of easy ideas for things to squeeze in before the last days of summer end.

1. Have a picnic
2. Go swimming
3. Take a nature hike
4. Head out to the backyard with just you and the camera — see what you find!
5. Sleep in
6. Read a book
7. Attend a concert in the park
8. Catch butterflies
9. Have a squirt gun fight
10. Go get an ice cream cone

Industrial Products Galore

I have a husband who loves gadgets. I fully admit to being a little bit of a techie gadget lover. My husbands loves technology ALMOST as much as I do…but I think he loves home improvement gadgets even more. Seriously…one time the man wandered around in one of those big box hardware stores for six hours. He didn’t even come home with THAT much stuff…he just got caught up looking, I guess. Glad I wasn’t with him that time!

Give my number one guy abrasives, cutting tools, hand tools, power tools, painting materials…he’s in hubby heaven. In fact, organizing his STUFF…well…that’s another blog post in itself!

The Industrial Distribution Group Company (IDG) has a wonderful catalog full of the best-in-class brands of industrial products. I tell you…if my hubby got a look at this catalog I would be paying for it…literally! See for yourself — order a print copy of their catalog…you won’t regret it!

Not only is their catalog beautiful, but they have knowledgeable associates ready to provide assistance and advice when you need it. For great products and trustworthy technical support, you just can’t beat IDG. They have several offices all over the nation, too ready to ship your items fast.

Exploring Entertainment Options

In my ever-expanding quest to build culture in my kids and expose them to entertainment that will edify and educate them, I frequently find myself browsing various websites, looking for theater productions and concerts that they might enjoy.

With seven kids still at home, this is no easy feat. I have one or two who would love Avril Lavigne Tickets. My husband would love a couple of United Center tickets … just for the two of us, though.

The whole family might enjoy Radio City Christmas Spectacular Tickets … that would be quite an expedition, though.

I, myself, would love some Nassau Coliseum tickets. That would be a divine treat!

I have three or four sons who would jump at the chance for Madison Square Garden tickets. That would be the chance of a lifetime!

Sigh…sounds like we might have to split up and conquer!

School Preparations

It never fails. I finally found the time to devote to some school preparations yesterday. I had quite a bit of printing and copying to do using our laser printer. I was about halfway into the work when my last print cartridge started running out. Ick…I hate that!

So…I found myself interrupted from my school work to find the best price for more hp laserjet ink cartridges. Of course, I will have to order them and wait for them to arrive, which will put me back to getting my school work done next week some time instead.

Oh well…it’s a beautiful day today! I think we will go for a bird walk instead!

Internet Researching

Have you thought recently about what a resource the Internet is? I mean seriously…what on earth did we do before Google? We actually had to jump in our cars and DRIVE to the library to look information up on books that we probably could not check out! Oy!

Now, we simply plop ourselves down in front of a computer…or even enter keywords into a browser on a smartphone…and up comes almost infinite returns…who knows what diamonds online we will find!

As homeschoolers, we use the Internet a LOT for learning. Under my supervision, my kids do research online for projects and reports. Of course, we need to use reputable websites for our information. I am partial to .edu and .gov sites for data.

New Bathroom?

We are tossing around the idea of redoing our bathroom. We would like to rip out the existing tub, surround and ceiling and put in something in one piece with a few little bells and whistles. Lots of work…but it would be very worth it.

Right now our biggest questions is whether we want to hire someone to do it…pay more but have it done quickly…or do we do it ourselves and have it take about ten times as long? Tough decision…we are really up in the air.

If we lived in Toronto, perhaps the decision would be easier. We could hire one of these toronto bathroom contractors and be done with it. Decision made and we’d have nothing to worry about.

Alas…we do not live in Canada, so toronto renovations are out of the question. That leaves us choosing between time and money. The standard conundrum, right?

Maybe one of these nifty toronto contractors could recommend someone near us to talk to? Word of mouth is always a very safe and reliable way to hire contractors, I believe. There’s nothing like a happy customer to tell you they loved the work that a contractor did for them. I really want my new bathroom!
