Decorating With Pictures

For Mother’s Day this year, I was given an abundant supply of pictures: From frames to picture cubes, I got enough frames to decorate the entire house! But that doesn’t bother me. I love decking out my house with pictures. I would certainly say that we have more than enough pictures on my computer alone to fill up the whole house! (No, I don’t usually decorate my house musical-type decor, such as schecter bass guitar at Guitar Center) But still, I better get cracking on filling up those empty frames!

Springtime Flowers

I walked out the house the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see tiny blossoms on my little lilac bush! I planted that bush three years ago, and I’ve been holding my breath that it would blossom this year. I would love to have more space for planting flowers, but most of our garden space is taken up by summer-time vegetables. Oh, well. I guess I’ll have to make do with the gorgeous hanging flower baskets I’m going out to buy next week!

Instrument Repairs

When you have nine kids, most of which play a musical instrument, you can bet that there are gonna have to be repairs made on their instruments. We haven’t had too many repairs that have had to be made thankfully, because the kids are usually pretty careful with their instruments, but there have been a few costly repairs that have had to been taken care of. But luckily for my pocketbook, none of the kids were ever interested in playing the oboe–can you imagine all the classic oboe reeds at wwbw replacements I would have had to take care of?

Medjool Dates

I have been discovering the amazing qualities of Medjool dates! These huge, soft dates are not your average kind of date. For starters they are amazingly healthy for you and they can be used in so many different kinds of recipes! (I’ve even eaten a few plain–They’re that good!) You can even use Medjool dates to make your own natural date sugar! All that involves is baking your dates at about 250 F for 2-3 hours then leaving them in the oven overnight to dry out. Once your dates are completely dry you can then grind them up in your food processor until a fine powder forms. Easy AND healthy for you! Why not give Medjool dates a try?

Sigh. It seems like this house is just falling apart. This week alone we have had a broken garbage disposal, two plugged toilets, and a dishwasher that needs to be replaced. With all this work that needs to be done I am in need of some serious comfort. (No, I’m not desperate enough to seek out high end cigars) But still, I’m really getting sick of all these repairs!

Prep for Summer 2013

These past few days have been wonderfully warm and beautiful. The kids have been practically living outside, soaking up this lovely weather. I can hardly believe that it will soon be time to pack away all the schoolbooks and pull out the swimsuits for Summer 2013! Like all others, this summer promises to be a busy one, with baseball games, ballet classes, summer work schedules, pool trips, library programs and more still. Bring it on!

Repairs and Upgrades Around The House

Living with kids always means that there are going to be repairs. Right now, we are in the midst of attempting to get a new dishwasher, and a new counter-top. Ugh. Not the best combination when you need to use your kitchen 24/7 like we do. But besides the fact that there will be screwdrivers, nails,c clamp , and generally a huge mess of tools spread out over every inch of space in the kitchen, it will be nice (after it’s done) to have these new upgrades!

Gracious Giving To Boston Bombing Victims

Shortly after the tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon last Monday, websites were quickly organized to raise money for two victims of the bombing who were badly injured. After just a few days, over 23,000 pledges were given, raising over 2 million! Many people are very eager to help all victims of this terrible tragedy in any way they can. There is one thing that every single person can do: Pray. Pray for the victims. Pray for their families. Pray that terrible things like this come to an end.

My family loves spending time together outside in the summer as long as it’s not to hot or too buggy! We also like decking out our yard with ornaments like birdhouses, feeders, bird baths, or patio fountains! It just seems to make the time outdoors even more enjoyable if your yard looks nice!
